Hunting more elk is on the table along with other proposed changes from the Division of Wildlife Resources for the 2018 Big Game Hunts. What’s being considered? Giving bull elk hunters a chance to hunt all three seasons – which are the archery, rifle, and muzzleloader hunts – on the state’s spike-only and any-bull general elk hunting units.

The drives literally stock the shelves of local food pantries in time to help provide holiday meals to local families in need. 25K Jobs Initiative Ends State Tour in Uintah and Daggett County

The state tour for Governor Gary Herbert’s 25K Jobs Initiative wrapped up in Uintah and Daggett County on Wednesday. Local business leaders, community members, government officials and resource partners gathered at the Uintah Conference Center to explore methods of bringing jobs to the rural communities of eastern Utah. Lt. Governor Spencer Cox addressed the group prior to a roundtable discussion.

Basin Remembers Outgoing and Kind Young Man Gone Too Soon

The life of a Jensen teen known for his outgoing and kind personality has been remembered this week with gatherings of family and friends, the sharing of memories in classrooms where he sat just last week, and through hundreds of social media tributes. 15-year-old Conner Scott Wall passed away as a result of injuries during a November 4th Jeep accident and the world has been a bit dimmer for many people since that tragic accident took place.

Community Celebrates Historic Vernal City Tabernacle/Temple

This week community members are celebrating a historic building that has significant meaning for many Basin residents. 20 years ago the renovated Vernal City Tabernacle opened its doors as the newest temple for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Local members of the Church celebrated the temple opening and 20 years later patrons are remembering the building’s history as the celebration continues. 

Magical Enchanted Forest Fast Approaching

The Enchanted Forest event held in Roosevelt City is always a heartwarming occasion. The trees, beautifully decorated and for a good cause, are among the communities favorite sights to go see to kick off the holiday season. “The Uintah Basin has a very special way of finding the sweetest holiday spirit,” shares Vernal Chamber Director Irene Hansen. 

Vernal City Planning for Future Road Maintenance

Vernal City is looking long term and planning for the future as far as road maintenance is concerned. According to Vernal City Manager Quinn Bennion, the administration and council discussed a maintenance project they hope to do next year during last week’s City Council meeting.

Duchesne County Election Results

The preliminary election results are in for several Duchesne County municipalities. With nothing on the ballot, Duchesne County did not run any of the municipal elections this year meaning the cities each held their own.
