Social media has been swirling with rumors of large Basin fires with cases of news stories circulating that are out of date. The Uintah Basin Interagency Fire Center confirmed Friday afternoon that while there have been 2 to 5 little fires a day, there hasn’t been any of significance.

Maeser is a safer place with the new Maeser fire substation opening its doors. While the official grand opening won’t take place until July 21st, trucks were parked in their new home Thursday night making the station operational. Hazy Skies Over Basin as the Peekaboo Fire Rages On

Skies over the Uintah Basin are not looking good as crews work to contain the Peekaboo Fire in western Colorado. According to a BLM update, the fire reached 4,200 acres by Thursday as passing thunderstorms over the fire caused an increase in fire activity.
