TriCounty Health Department has the wellbeing of all community members in mind but some programs target specific groups of people. WIC, which stands for Women, Infants and Children, is a nutritional education program that supplies supplemental food for pregnant, breastfeeding and postpartum women, as well as infants and children up to 5 years old.

Since President Trump signed the executive order to review designations under the Antiquities Act, Utahns have wondered what it will mean for the west. This week, Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke traveled to Utah and toured the Bear Ears National Monument and the Grand Staircase-Escalante National Monument. 

Plans for Uintah Advantage Upgrader Moving Forward

A project planned for Uintah County is being called a potential “game changer” for the local oil and gas industry and things are in order for the plans to happen. Current Director of the 7 County Infrastructure Coalition and former Uintah County Commissioner Mike McKee provided an update on the Uintah Advantage upgrader project that is expected to be under construction in about a year from now.

Local Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive

It’s time for the 25th annual Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive and local letter carriers will be ready to accept your food donations this Saturday. The Uintah Basin Association of Governments is leading the way to provide locals with a reminder bag that can be filled with non-perishable food donations to be left near mailboxes on May 13th no later than 9:00am to be collected by the local mail men and women.

Window for Election Candidacy Declarations Approaching

The opportunity to declare candidacy for the 2017 municipal elections is approaching. The Naples City Municipal Election will be held to elect a Mayor and two city council members. Mayor Dean Baker’s term is up December 31st, as well as councilmen Robert Hall and Dennis Long. 

Daggett County Commissioner Lytle on Jail Investigation/Moving Forward

The Daggett County Commission is working closely with the Governor’s Office and Department of Corrections to rebuild trust in hopes of having state inmates returned to the care of the Daggett County Jail. State inmates were removed from the jail in February. In April, Sheriff Jorgensen resigned and this month charges were filed by the Attorney General’s Office against the former Sheriff and 4 deputies relating to either failing to prevent, knowing about or participating in prisoner abuse.
