One young woman’s love for the Basin’s great outdoors is paying off. Oaklee Trogstad is this year’s recipient of the Linda Gurr Stuart Memorial Scholarship. Oaklee’s passion for wildlife began long before she became a wildlife science student at USU-Uintah Basin.

Auditions This Week for Outlaw Trail Productions
The Outlaw Trail Theater is ready to kick off their 31st year of Broadway Under the Stars with auditions this week! Called the “greatest movie musical of all time”, auditions for Singin’ In The Rain will be held April 11th, 12th and 15th.
UBOC ‘Classics of the Silver Screen’ Concert Thrills Crowds
The Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus thrilled two crowds over the weekend with their spring concert, Classics of the Silver Screen. Two giant screens framed the stage, rolling clips from movies in which the piece being performed had been featured.
Leland Bench Project a Bright Spot for Uintah County Commission
Persistence paid off last week when the Community Impact Board made a significant adjustment to the funding agreement for the Leland Bench Road project in Uintah County. According to a release from the Uintah County Commission, in most cases, the CIB requires that those who receive a loan/grant must spend the loan money before they can have the grant money.
Daggett County Taking Financial Hit Over Jail Investigation
Daggett County is taking a hit after the removal of state inmates from the Daggett County Jail in February after allegations of misconduct surfaced. According to the Daggett County Sheriff’s Office, 80 state inmates were removed from the jail on Friday, February 17th, and 2 employees were put on administrative leave during the investigation.
CIB Funds Awarded for Stonegate Sewer Project
Roosevelt City was successful on Thursday in securing funding for the Stonegate Subdivision sewer project. The Community Impact Board approved a $2 million dollar grant with a $500,000 dollar loan at zero percent interest for the project.

CIB Drops Loan Portion of Leland Bench Project Funding
Thanks to the efforts of local leadership, the Leland Bench project in Uintah County will move forward with a more than affordable funding package from the Community Impact Board. The project originally was awarded a $6 million dollar loan paired with a $9.8 million dollar grant.
UHP Traffic Stop Ends With 7 Fugitive Arrests
An attempted UHP traffic stop in the Myton area eventually lead to 7 fugitive arrests in Duchesne County on Thursday. According to Utah Highway Patrol, a trooper noticed a white Ford Expedition with a temporary tag in the rear window after10:00am that was following too closely.
