A Wasatch Front couple is now behind the bars of the Duchesne County Jail on multiple charges of fraud. According to the Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office, 39-year-old James M. Duffy was arrested on outstanding warrants during a traffic stop after failing to signal while driving in Duchesne on the morning of April 6th.

US-40 Myton Bench Project on UDOT’s Top 10 List
UDOT is working hard this year with over 180 projects scheduled throughout the state. In 2017, UDOT estimates $3.1 billion dollars will be spent on construction projects. A $35 million dollar Basin project that is just heating up has made the top 10 list of UDOT projects that will affect Utah drivers this year.

Proposed Changes for Buckskin Hills Shooting Range
The Buckskin Hills Shooting Range in Uintah County is known far and wide for its extensive facilities and professionalism. Following some vandalism in 2016, the county is exploring some changes to the facility. According to Uintah County Commissioner Brad Horrocks, sometime in the near future, the county plans to lock down the facility at night.
Major Meth Bust in Rock Springs
A major meth bust in Rock Springs resulted in the arrest of 3 men this week. According to the Sweetwater County Sheriff’s Office, a months long investigation by the Sheriff’s Narcotics and Arrest Group led to the arrests of 26-year-old Quintyn Gary Hart, 19-year-old Clayton Michael Palmen, and 37-year-old Bernhardt Henry Peterson

The search for a new Vernal City Manager continues after the Vernal City Council reviewed and amended the job description. Some additions include the requirement that the city manager respond in a timely manner to specific requests of the City Council and Mayor pertaining to immediate needs and concerns in the community and that candidates with public administration experience may be given preference

The Uintah Conference Center is hustling and bustling this week with visitors from across Utah. The Utah Association of Counties holds two conferences every year and the spring conference is going on through Friday in Vernal at the conference center.

Fatal ATV Accident Near Rifle
An ATV accident over the weekend resulted in a fatality in Colorado. A Glenwood Springs man was driving a side by side ATV near Rifle when he lost control of the ATV. The vehicle was sent down a steep embankment and the 54-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.
Duchesne County Continues Work on Resource Management Plan
Local counties continue their work updating Resource Management Plans. The Duchesne County Commission recently reviewed the costs associated so far in order to seek reimbursement from the state.
