Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office Warns of Scams
The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office is warning Basin citizens to be on alert for scammers, especially IRS scammers. “Our office has taken numerous complaints regarding these scams where con artists call pretending to be with the IRS,” shares the Sheriff’s Office.

DWR and KIFX Partner to Incentivize Family Fishing
Local radio station KIFX The Fox has partnered with the Division of Wildlife Resources to incentivize family fishing this summer. The promotion means that over 400 fish will be tagged in Pelican Lake alone while over a hundred more will be tagged in Moose Pond and the lower Stillwater Pier Pond.
Snowpack Destroys Structures at Bacon Park
The harsh winter has taken its toll on the James Bacon Memorial Park, home of the well known “Klondike” Boy Scouts winter camp. Every year, in the coldest part of February, hundreds of scouts head to the park for an intense and cold winter camp.
Chevron Oil Spill in Rangely
An oil spill in the Rangely area is still being cleaned up 10 days later. According to the Rio Blanco County Sheriff’s Office, Chevron Pipe Line Company responded to a crude oil release at a collection station on the Rangely Gathering System on March 5th.
