Fantastic Weekend for Pheasant Hunt
A huge crowd turned out for Utah’s general pheasant hunt over the weekend. More than 10,000 pheasants were released across the state, a large chunk in the Uintah Basin. Birds are scheduled to be released before every weekend of the hunt. As the hunt progresses, the Division of Wildlife Resources is asking hunters to be considerate of others.
Youth Orchestra Launches Local Talent
Young talented musicians have a new opportunity to stretch and grow with the formation of a local youth orchestra. The Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra(UBYCO) was officially approved as an organization under the umbrella of the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus(UBOC) during Friday’s UBOC board meeting. Organizing a Youth Chamber Orchestra has long been a dream of Brad Vanfleet, local viola and violin instructor and Principal Violist for the Uintah Basin Orchestra and Chorus.
Dinosaur National Monument School Partnership
As agents for Dinosaur National Monument, Davis Elementary 4th graders have taken an active role in an effort to save endangered fish locally. According to Davis Principal Rick Johnson, Ms. Biggs 4th grade class is once again raising Razorback Suckers in their classroom and at the end of the year the class will go on a field trip to release the fish into the wild.

The Uintah Basin Christian Academy Little Eagle of the Month is Alivia Nickell. The Uintah Basin Christian Academy Big Eagle of the Month is Samantha Sasse.
Open House Meetings to Explore Uintah County’s General Plan
If you’d like a say in the future of Uintah County, an opportunity to get involved has presented itself. Uintah County has partnered with Rural Community Consultants as they work to update the County’s General Plan.
Lt. Governor Cox on Election Day
The Utah Elections Office issued a timely reminder on Monday for those that saved their voting for today. First and foremost, do NOT drop your ballot in the mail. Law states that all ballots must be postmarked on November 7th so it’s too late for that approach.

Naples Elementary Asking for Community Support in Red Ribbon Photo Contest
Naples Elementary has gone all out for Red Ribbon Week this year and are asking the community to vote for them in the regional 2016 Red Ribbon photo contest. Schools across the nation celebrate Red Ribbon Week as a time to teach youth to live drug free.
