Who could forget the day in June of 2014 when a blue 10 ton tractor broke halfway through the Browns Park Swinging Bridge and sat suspended over the Green River? For over two years, Colorado officials have worked to secure funding that will enable the bridge to be repaired and fully functional again but they’ve experienced many hiccups along the way. 

Talented, young musicians had the audience on their feet at the debut concert of the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra. The musicians ranging in age from 10 to 20 years old, took the stage at the Vernal Middle School on Saturday night and impressed with a program lineup that included Holt’s St. Paul’s Suite and the energetic Palladio composed by Karl Jenkins. 

A night of live music and dancing in Rangely is all for a worthy cause. The Rangely Elks Club annual charity ball is tomorrow night and locals know the event is always a night to remember. 

While not everyone in rural Utah was on the Trump train, the majority of Utah voters were and one Vernal woman’s support made national news. Joni Crane is a familiar name to many locals thanks to her active role in recent years in the Republican Party, among varied volunteer service in the community. 

An upcoming memorial service to honor a local Sheriff’s detective who lost his life nearly 10 years ago, will include a ceremony to retire his call number. Uintah County Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Orr was organizing a search and rescue effort from the sky on November 22nd, 2006, when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed into the Green River and his life was lost.

Local agencies, schools and citizens are observing Veterans’ Day today to honor the men and women who have served and are serving our country. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement of thanks to pay respect to the military servicemen and women.
