For over two years, Colorado officials have worked to secure funding that will enable the bridge to be repaired and fully functional again but they’ve experienced many hiccups along the way.

Bright Future for Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra
Talented, young musicians had the audience on their feet at the debut concert of the Uintah Basin Youth Chamber Orchestra. The musicians ranging in age from 10 to 20 years old, took the stage at the Vernal Middle School on Saturday night and impressed with a program lineup that included Holt’s St. Paul’s Suite and the energetic Palladio composed by Karl Jenkins.
UTSSD Approves Bond on Leland Bench Road Project
A project several years in the works received bond approval last week. The Uintah Transportation Special Service District board approved a bond of 6 million dollars for the Woods Road or Leland Bench Road project last Tuesday.
2 Teens Injured in ATV Accident
Two teens were seriously injured in an ATV accident on Saturday afternoon in Uintah County. According to the Uintah County Sheriff’s Office, emergency response was called to Massey Meadow, northeast of Vernal, shortly after 3:00pm on Saturday.

Computer Recycling Event for One Week Only
Certified destruction of data on computers and devices is not easy to come by but a window of opportunity begins this Tuesday. A free electronics recycling event hosted by the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and TriCounty Health Department will run from November 15th through the 22nd.
Detective Kevin Orr’s Call Number to be Retired
An upcoming memorial service to honor a local Sheriff’s detective who lost his life nearly 10 years ago, will include a ceremony to retire his call number. Uintah County Sheriff’s Detective Kevin Orr was organizing a search and rescue effort from the sky on November 22nd, 2006, when the helicopter he was traveling in crashed into the Green River and his life was lost.
Veterans Day Observed
Local agencies, schools and citizens are observing Veterans’ Day today to honor the men and women who have served and are serving our country. The Duchesne County Sheriff’s Office issued a statement of thanks to pay respect to the military servicemen and women.
American Gilsonite Approved for Reorganization Under Chapter 11
American Gilsonite has reached an agreement for reorganization under chapter 11 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. The Bonanza company, founded in 1886, was authorized $30 million dollars in financing through the U.S. Bankruptcy Court on October 26th.
