In a press release issued on Thursday, the Ute Indian Tribal Business Committee announced that it has taken action against “a group of terminated mixed-bloods calling themselves the Uintah Band of Shoshone Indians or Uintah Utah of Indians of Utah or Uinta Valley Shoshone Tribe.”

State Education Initiative Announced at Energy Summit
A state education initiative was announced for the first time during the Uintah Basin Energy Summit on Wednesday. The Utah Energy and Minerals Education Initiative features an online hub for K through 12 curriculum as well as higher education scholarships, research funding and annual events.
Vernal Man Who Made Bomb Threat Pleads Guilty to Lesser Charges
A Vernal man who threatened to use a bomb at a local business pleaded guilty of lesser charges this week in 8th District Court. According to court documents, 38-year-old Joel Micah Lyda had gone into a local establishment and told an acquaintance that he was upset about a recent arrest and based on the outcome of that case he was planning to make a bomb in order to “get even”.
Governor Herbert Praises Basin during Uintah Basin Energy Summit
Governor Gary Herbert was among the opening speakers of the Uintah Basin Energy Summit that kicked off Wednesday at the Uintah Conference Center. In his remarks, Governor Herbert stated that energy resources in the Uintah Basin have as much potential as “anywhere in North America.”
