The Vernal Chamber was recognized at the State Chamber Convention held in Logan last week. According to Director Joel Brown, the Vernal Area Chamber won the most innovative event in the state for the Education Summit

UBIC Momentum

Momentum is picking up for this year’s UBIC event. Dozens of people are signing up for competitions and events every day, shares Duchesne County Chamber Director Irene Hansen. The UBIC official kickoff was last Friday with golf and softball tournaments and Saturday was the UBIC Queen pageant. Tonight, activities continue with the baby show, Mr. UBIC competition and more throughout the week.

Officials are saying that a man’s version of being shot in the torso after offering help to a stranded motorist about 5 miles north of Rifle is not true. 

New Elk Hunting Opportunity

A new option for hunting elk is available in Utah. The Division of Wildlife Resources is getting the word out: Private­lands­only permits are intended to push elk off private property and back onto public land, thus making hunting on public land better in the future. 

Utah Awarded Workforce Grant Money

Utah has awarded $3.4 million dollars in grants for workforce development
statewide. “It is essential for Utah to build workforce development programs that align
with the needs of employers,” says Workforce Director Jon Pierpont. “With these funds
we can target specific industries and education programs that directly benefit our labor
force and economy.”
