12U Baseball Team Fundraiser

A group of little baseball stars with big league dreams are working hard to make their dreams a reality. The 12U Uintah Baseball team has hopes of playing in a weeklong tournament in Cooperstown, New York and the group of go-getters has put together a fundraiser to see their dream become a reality. The dinner/auction event is being held on August 25th at the Western Park. Auction items include Diamond Mountain deer and elk tags, a 7mm rifle, quilts, a fishing trip and more hot items. Doors open at 6:00 with dinner starting at 7:00pm.

Fall Baseball Sign Ups

Vernal youth baseball fall ball sign-ups are Wednesday, August 24th, and Thursday, August 25th , from 6 to 8 at the Ashley Park baseball complex. Everyone plays! Youth ages 7 to 18: Sign up and let’s play some ball! Get all the details at vernalyouthbaseball.org. No late sign-ups! Come on kids, grab your glove and let’s play some ball this fall!   

‘From Concept to Reality Business Seminar’ Thursday, August 25th

Joel Brown from the Vernal Area Chamber of Commerce and Pete Morphy from Grand Valley Bank discuss the chamber business seminar From Concept to Reality with KLCY’s Amy Richards. This 90 minute seminar will help you expand your existing business or develop your business concept into reality. Mark Holmes and Mike Finnerty from the Utah Small Business Development Center will present. 7:30 – 9:00 a.m. Thursday August 25th at the Marriott TownPlace Suites in Vernal. Bob and Ann Peterson …

Bob and Ann Peterson special guests on USU’s Marriage and Family aired each Thursday morning at 9 on Newstalk KVEL. Marriage and Family is a USU college course on marriage and consumer human development with Dr. David Law and USU FCHD students aired each week on your radio dial.

12-U Baseball Donation

Newstalk KVEL donated this autographed Trey Burke Jazz jersey to help these young men earn funds to go to Cooperstown NY and compete in a weeklong 12-U baseball tournament. This jersey raised $350.00 during the dinner auction for team Uintah! Good luck boys!

Winterize Sprinklers

The Utah Division of Water Resources has a clear message for sprinkler fanatics. The time of year to run sprinklers has passed and the minutes the sprinklers should be run is “zero, zilch, nothing, nil, naught, zippo times. There are zero excuses to have your timer anywhere but the off position.” 

Hunter Safety Tips from DWR

DWR Outreach Manager Tonya Kieffer reminds hunters of some simple hunting safety tips. Remember to wear hunter orange anytime you are on the mountain during the rifle hunt. Unload firearm before getting into a vehicle as most hunting accidents occur in the cab of a vehicle and to look beyond your target to make sure you have a safe shot.
